About the Event

During the pandemic more and more teens have turned to substances to help them cope with anxiety and depression. In Nevada, even before COVID-19 there was a more than 45% increase in teens reporting they have used e-cigarettes (or vape) from 2017 to 2019. How do we help our teens have the healthy coping skills they need to be strong, productive, contributing members of our community? Learn what is what is being done to battle this growing issue.

Join us in this monthly speaker series to learn about critical local issues that impact your quality of life here in the Truckee Meadows. Each month we will focus on a specific different area of quality of life. For April, we will take a deeper look at what the obstacles and opportunities we face in ensuring our Nevada teens don’t turn to substance abuse (starting with nicotine) to help them cope with stress and anxiety.Join us in this monthly speaker series to learn about critical local issues that impact your quality of life here in the Truckee Meadows.  Each month we will focus on a specific different area of quality of life.  For April, we will take a deeper look at what the obstacles and opportunities we face in helping our northern Nevada youth be resilient to life's challenges.  We will dive deep into topics such as teen substance abuse, vaping, and its connection to anxiety and depression - and how we can better support or kids with better coping tools.
