Reno Nonprofit, Truckee Meadows Tomorrow, Hires Erin Hanna-Butros Meyering as Executive Director

RENO, Nev. (September 3, 2024) —  Truckee Meadows Tomorrow (TMT), a nonprofit working to collect and present quality of life data to better inform individuals and organizations making decisions that impact northern Nevada residents, has hired Erin Hanna-Butros Meyering as its new executive director. Hanna-Butros Meyering brings more than 10 years of nonprofit and board governance experience to TMT, as well as a background within healthcare and food system industries and a history of successful community collaboration. In her role as executive director, she will work to draw additional accurate, timely and objective data to the organization through community activations in order to aggregate information that will serve as the baseline for efficient community dialogue, engagement and decision making.

“Erin was chosen because we believe she will lead our team into its next, important era,” said Edward Estipona, board president of Truckee Meadows Tomorrow Board and owner, CEO at Estipona Group, a Reno-headquartered marketing and communications agency. “Although Truckee Meadows Tomorrow has a rich regional history, and an already-compelling track record, there are several thoughtful expansions that have the potential to greatly define the organization’s future and are confident Erin can get us there.”

Hanna-Butros Meyering most recently served as the marketing director for the Great Basin Community Food Co-op (GBCFC). Prior to that she held the communications director role for Carson Tahoe Health during the pandemic. In addition to having led teams through organization and industry change, Hannah-Butros Meyering has also freelanced for several news publications and teaches children how to swim, a dedication to her community beyond her career. She earned a bachelor of arts in journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno as well as a master’s in business administration from Western Governors University.

Additionally, Hanna-Butros Meyering holds several crisis management certifications, including the G289 Public Information Officer Awareness, G290 Public information Officer Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Training, and HICS Emergency Preparedness certifications. These certifications, as well as her management in healthcare throughout the pandemic have positioned her to lead through challenging times, collaborate with local media outlets and healthcare organizations, and take a bird's eye view over what quality of life may look like in the region.

Adjacent to her professional work, Hanna-Butros Meyering teaches swim lessons for children, has taught yoga in Reno and Carson City and sits on the Board of Directors at GBCFC, counseling on strategies for the organization’s future.

“I’m thrilled to hit the ground running, continuing to build upon existing strong community partnerships and establishing new connections, creating lasting quality of life impact here in Washoe County (and perhaps beyond), for generations to come,” said Hanna-Butros Meyering.

Started in 1989 by the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), TMT began as a nonprofit looking to provide quality of life metrics for organizations considering relocating to northern Nevada. Today, the organization continues this momentum by collecting and aggregating accessible data in key areas for the public. The organization identifies and consolidates objective data that depicts the region’s metrics around mental and physical health, housing and poverty, education, environmental concerns, and other quality of life indicators. These data paint a picture of how the community reacts to various factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic, economic fluctuations and more. The organization seeks to be the go-to source for those seeking unbiased information that can help drive data-informed decisions impacting the Truckee Meadows.

The nonprofit publishes an biennial Community Progress Report and provides data-based speaking presentations to help educate local and regional leaders. The 2024 report will be released in Fall of 2024.

About Truckee Meadows Tomorrow:

Truckee Meadows Tomorrow (TMT) was crafted in 1989 by an Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) committee in response to local research showing Quality of Life as the leading reason businesses relocate to the region. TMT started as an “organization of organizations” whose members worked at the grassroots level to help spread the idea that indicators could be used to measure the region’s quality of life in relation to the impacts of constant growth. For over three decades, TMT has collaborated with business owners, policy-makers, educators, nonprofits, community leaders, and residents across Washoe County and the surrounding areas to define measurable and actionable indicators to monitor how we’re doing as a community at preserving and enhancing our collective quality of life. More than 30 years later, TMT remains a vital player in our community by providing accurate, timely, and objective data needed to prioritize, address, and advocate for quality-of-life issues.
